The virtues of the Commander of the Faithful

The virtues of Ali, peace be upon him, are right but indescribable!

There’s a Hadith from the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his pure progeny, saying: "O Ali, if I wouldn’t fear for Muslims to do what Christians did for Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, I would say things about you that wherever you go, people would take the dust under your feet as tabarruk [to seek blessings from them]."

He didn’t even introduce Ali, peace be upon him, with all the sayings that we have in many Hadiths. The virtues of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, are indescribable; they are right, but indescribable! Because we are weak in faith and intellect and we don’t have the capacity [to hear them]. If the Prophet would express [the virtues of Imam Ali], many people would lose faith and very few would believe; as it happened for Jesus Christ, peace be upon him.

Imam Hussain's words in Karbala

Have I changed any Halal to Haram or any Haram to Halal?

Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, said: "Why do you regard killing me as Halal (lawful)? Have I changed any Halal to Haram (unlawful) or any Haram to Halal?" A cursed man said: "We fight you because of the hatred that we have for your father." This is when it is said that Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, cried; [because] the one whom he has to express his love for, he expresses enmity towards him.

Ayatollah Bahajt's Advice to the Leader of Islamic Revolution of Iran

At a meeting with masters, scholars and intellectuals of Qom's seminary the Leader of the Revolution, while interpreting a statement, referred the audience to advice by the late Ayatollah Bahjat. Ayatollah Khamenei recommended the following supplication, “O’ God, O’ the Beneficent, O’ the Merciful, O One who changes the hearts, secure my heart in your religion.”

He added, the late Ayatollah Bahjat (May God be satisfied with him) said recite this supplication often, "O’ God, O’ the Beneficent, O’ the Merciful, O One who changes the hearts, secure my heart in your religion."

The leader said, there would be potential questions and he would answer them, too. Someone might have asked when we say “secure my heart in your religion,” our faith is already rightful, rational and confirmed, this is for those at lower levels. He would answer that at any level where one’s heart, faith and religiosity is, there is a chance of plummeting. "Secure my heart in your religion” means maintain my faith at a high level and secure it. If this happens, life will be sweet and death will be comfortable. One of our fundamental problems is the concern of death. Imam Sajjad (pbuh) asked the Almighty God, “Let us die guided and not misguided; obedient, not reluctant, nor sinful.” This individual has always been on the path of guidance but the Imam continued to ask God, "Let us die guided and not misguided, obedient and not reluctant, nor sinful.” This reveals how dangerous things could be.

"Judgment of grace and purity comes on last day
One knows not leaving the world, how they may."
